Hello. I have already mentioned this teacher on this grapevine, but the other day, when talking about Class Progression, the teacher CLEARLY stated that if someone took an art class, they would “be dead to him.” He said that he was “joking” but I don’t think it is a joke in any way, shape or form. I feel very pressured and not very comfortable in class. I don’t know what do know. Who should I speak with on this? Is there any rules on this?

A. There are no rules against joking. Sometimes people make a joke without realizing it has offended someone. If you were truly upset by the comment, you should have that conversation with the teacher or your principal.
