Great SHUTOUT Weekend for Shen Softball.

 Starting on Friday night Shen beat Averill Park 13-0 with Morgan Sprague throwing a 2 hitter. Lauren Lawler led the way with 3 doubles, 3 RBIs and scored 2 runs.  Emilia Peluso singled and homered and Emily Wagner had 3 singles.

Saturday - The Christina Massa Memorial Tournament.

Shen took 2 games and shared the tournament championship with columbia who also won 2 games.  Both Shen pitchers took no-hitters into the 7th inning.
 Game #1 - Shen 11 - Pine Bush 0
 Morgan Sprague struck out 11 batters and gave up just one hit (a one out single in the 7th inning)
Amanda Ferro led the offense with 2 singles an 3 RBIs.
 Game #2 - Shen 8 - Maine-Endwell 0
 Amanda Ferro struck out 14 batters and pitched a 2 hitter.  The first hit off Mandy came with one out in the 7th inning.
The senior co-captains, Lauren Lawler and Barb Shea led the attack with 2 hits apiece.
Shen's record going into the last two weeks of the regular season is 10-0 in the Suburban Council and 16-1 overall.
Shaker is next on the table on Monday. 
 
5/7 against Ballston Spa
 
The winning streak continues with Shen defeating Ballston Spa 7-2.  Highlights of the game include Lauren Lawler with 2-2b, 1-1b and 3 RBI, Emila Peluso 2-1b and 3 RBI.  Amanda Ferro and Morgan Sprague pitched for a combined 10k.  Shen's League record improves to 9-0 and 13-1 overall. 
 
5/5 against Colonie
 
Final Score - SHEN 5 - Colonie 0
In front of a lot of fans and media, Mandy Ferro struck out 15 batters to lead Shen over Colonie.  Jen Mongiovi had 2 doubles for the second game in a row. In fact Shen had 8 hits and 5 of them were doubles: Mongiovi - 2 2B
Barb Shea, Emilia Peluso and Lexi Williams each had one double.
Colonie was #1 in the state until yesterday.
Shen 8-0 in League and 12-1 overall.
 

5/2 against Burnt Hills

We beat them 16-0 (Mercy Rule).

Lauren Lawler and Barb Shea each had 3 hits, Jen Mongiovi and Mel Scuderi each had two hits and Maggie Seligman and Lauren Lawler each had a triple. Shen 7-0 in League and 11-1 overall.

On Thursday, May 1st, the Shen Varsity team went on the road to face Saratoga High School.  The Shen girls held a strong lead of 7-0 until the 4th inning when Saratoga decided to get in 2 runs of their own.  However, the final outcome was 12-2 in favor of Shen.  Notable players were Lexi Williams who had 2 singles and a triple, Jen Mongiovi had 2 singles with an RBI and Morgan Sprague had 3 RBI's and 1B/3B.  Pitcher Mandy Ferro allowed 2 hits and struck out 4.  Shen continues their winning streak in League games bringing their record to 6-0.

The Shen Varsity team improved their league record to 5-0 with a shutout victory over Columbia.  Batters Amanda Ferro and Lauren Lawler went 3 for 4 while Barb Shea and Emilia Peluso went 2 for 4.  Amanda Ferro pitched 13k's against the Columbia team.  All of the girls put in an amazing effort to reach a final score of 8-0.

The Shenendehowa Varsity team had an excellent showing in the Non-Leauge Tournament in Binghamton, NY this weekend.  Start performers in Game 1 were Emily Peluso and Amanda Ferro.  In Game 2, Morgan Sprague hit a home run while Amanda Ferro pitched a no hitter with 14K's.  Unfortunately, in Game 3, the championship game, Shen Varsity lost their first game of the season.  However, to their credit, nine varsity girls were not available to play due to the Jr. Prom being held the same night.  In League games, Shen is 4-0 and overall has a 8-1 record.

The Junior Varsity captured another win yesterday against Bethlehem . Kerry Leggett and Danielle Amyot stuck out 10 while only giving up 3 runs over seven innings. Offensively, Kelsey Hines continued her hot streak with 2 hits and 2 RBI's. Jessica Guffey, Jen Harfman and Maggie Quinn each chipped in with crucial hits. The Junior Varsity will face Mohonasen on Thursday.
