At bottom of exit ramp turn right (east). Travel east approximately 1/2 mile to your first traffic light. This will be Richardson Street. Turn left onto Richardson St. and travel north to the stop sign. The West Glens Fire Station will be on the corner. Continue heading north, going through a slight dog-leg left, onto Veterans Rd., and continue on to the next stop sign at Sherman Avenue. Turn left (west) onto Sherman Ave., and go up and over the Northway, and then take your first left which will be the entrance into the Complex.Highlights: SHEN WINS 6TH STRAIGHT SECTIONAL TITLE SHENENDEHOWA won its 6th straight AA Sectional Softball Championship with a 4-1 victory over Colonie Friday afternoon at the Clifton Commons. In front of a standing room crowd, first baseman Jen Mongiovi knocked in all the runs the Lady Plainsmen would need with a monster 2-run home run in the 2nd inning. Barb Shea singled in the third run in the 4th inning and Lauren Lawler scored on a passed ball in the 6th. Mandy Ferro struck out nine and survived a bases loaded situation in the 6th inning by striking out two Colonie hitters to end the threat. SHEN will play Cicero-North-Syracuse (CNS) in the regional game at the Adirondack Sports Complex in Queensbury on Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 pm. Sprague and Ferro get Shen one step closer. Morgan Sprague blew open a close game with a 2-run double in the 4th inning, and Mandy Ferro shutout a good Queensbury team, to lead the lady Plainsmen to a 4-0 victory in the Semi-Finals of the Section II championship series. Morgan’s double brought home Christina Gong and Jenn Mongiovi. Mandy, with a no-hitter for 4-2/3 innings, struck out 8 and gave up only 2 hits in another complete game shut out. SHEN will play Colonie on Friday for its 6th consecutive Section II title. The game will start at 5:00 pm at the Clifton Commons
Quarter Final Victory
Shenendehowa opened its defense of the Section II Softball Championship with a 3-0 quarter final victory over Saratoga. Mandy Ferro struck out six batters and contributed a double in a strong pitching outing. Kelsey Hines and Morgan Sprague singled in runs in the 2nd and 4th innings respectively, and Lauren Lawler added an insurance RBI in the 5th on a groundout. The Lady Plainsmen, now 22-2 on the season, will face Queensbury in the semi-finals on Tuesday, June 3, at Veeder Park in Colonie. Shen Completes Regular Season Shen closed out it regular season play with two wins to finish the season undefeated in the Suburban Council (14-0) and 21-2 overall. On Friday afternoon Shen complete its Suburban Council Schedule with a 5-1 win over Colonie. Amanda Ferro struck out 17 Colonie hitters and Emily Wagner went 2 for 3 with an RBI to lead the Lady Plainsmen. On Saturday the Lady Plainsmen traveled to New Hartford where they recorded a 9-1 non-league win over New Hartford. Emilia Peluso supplied all the power with a 2-run home run over the fence in right center. Lexi Williams contributed 2 doubles and Barb Shea had a single and a double in support of Mandy Ferro's 3 hit, 1 strikeout performance. Shen also played a scrimmage game against Section III Class leader Phoenix. Alyssa Tattersall hit a towering home run into a stiff wind in the scrimmage. Shen's first round (Quarter-Final) sectional game will be on Friday May 30 Shen makes a successful TV debut.
Under the lights at the
Clifton Commons, Shen ran it's Suburban Council record to 13 - 0 with a
7 - 3 win over arch rival Saratoga. The game was televised by Time
Warner Channel 3.
Barb Shea led Shen with a
single, double, and triple and 2 RBIs.
Morgan Sprague had a triple
and Emilia Peluso had 2 singles and 2 RBIs.
Mandy Ferro and Morgan
Sprague split the pitching duties.
Shen closes out the Suburban
Council regular season tonight when it hosts Colonie at 4:00 pm at the
High School.
