Computer Use Policy -Library and Computer Labs
The computers in the High School Library and Computer Labs are made available to students to assist in their school assignments. Students must have a Shenendehowa Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) form signed by themselves and a parent/guardian on file with IMS before using any Shenet computers. SHEN computers are to be used for academic purposes only. Activities that are not allowed include:
•Email (however, if a student needs to access email for a class assignment they can ask permission from the library or computer lab staff)
•Instant Messaging, Chat programs of any kind (AIM, Meebo, etc.)
•Message Boards
•Games of any kind (Microsoft games, online games, Fantasy Sports, etc)
•EBAY
•YouTube (except if directly required by a teacher)
•Altering computer configuration in any way (changing settings, installing or removing programs, accessing a DOS prompt, etc.)
Students cannot share their password or use another student’s password to log in.
Color printing is only allowed if project has been added to the color printing list by the teacher and is limited to three pages.
As in the rest of the building outside the cafeterias, food or drinks are not allowed in the libraries or computer labs. These items must be put away in a bag or disposed of before entering the facilities.
No more than 5 students can come to any of the labs or the library with a pass from an academic class (HSE only).
If you have any questions if an activity is appropriate, ask the staff in the library or computer labs. Failure to comply with these policies or other policies detailed in the Acceptable Use Policy will lead to disciplinary actions and/or loss of computer privileges.
