LIBRARY POLICY

The High School library is a dynamic, open access learning environment designed for reading, research, homework or study.  We ask your cooperation with the following procedures to insure optimal opportunities for students and staff.

  1. Productive use of the library requires ongoing collaboration between teachers and librarian.  Collaborative planning before a visit is essential to be able to accommodate program needs, performance tasks, and requests and insure the best instructional support.

  2. When bringing classes to the library or sending in groups to use the library, teachers need to sign up with the librarian well in advance.  Teachers are expected to remain with their students while in the library for a scheduled class.  It is generally not acceptable to use the library as a plan for a substitute.  Students should not be sent to the library because they are a behavioral problem or have no work to do.

  3. When issuing your students presigned passes, please be mindful that use of the library and library computers by whole classes or groups (even 1 or 2 students) requires reservation/sign up with the librarian.  Demand for these resources is great.

  4. When teachers send students out of class to access library computers or resources, they need to insure that students present a pass to a library staff member for signature upon arrival and departure.
