Words of Wisdom and Advice from Past Cult/Lit Students
“Your grades may not be as high as they would be in regular Global/English, but you will really have an amazing amount of knowledge when all is said and done.”
“This class has a crazy amount of work. Do not put off big assignments until the night before!”
“You will have to study more than you have in your entire life, but it is worth it in the end.”
“Keep your notes for the entire year, because they help out a lot for the final. Trust me. I learned the hard way.”
“It feels good to identify and talk about pieces of art that your friends have never even heard of.”
“Yeah, it’s a tough class, but it’s perfectly doable if you plan your time. You may think some of the assignments are useless, but they come up sooner or later and it’s better to be prepared.”
“You will curse your teachers and damn them more often than you will eat in the next year. I know I did. But in the end? It’s honestly worth it. They were tough in a good way.”
“Do the reading assignments carefully. Some are actually good! Sparknotes do not work. And study for all the tests. They can be killer.”
“Appreciation of the course content is needed to succeed. If you have a negative attitude, it will be reflected in your grade.”
“I was not scared to take Cult/Lit over the summer. I was, however, terrified once the course began. There is a lot of work, but if you don’t procrastinate you will be fine.”
“Be prepared to think. I know it’s hard, but thinking is the best thing you could do in this class.”
“Knowledge = heaven. A world without knowledge = painful and fiery death. Why not learn?”
