World Culture Honors Curriculum
This course offers an historical survey of major time periods and pivotal events from ancient Greece and Rome to the present, including:
Don’t forget about our "third strand" of the course, art and architecture. The students will complete reading and note-taking assignments from a comprehensive textbook Arts and Ideas, as well as view the well-known film series, Art of the Western World.
World Culture presents the concept of civilization as a cumulative "tapestry" of social, political, religious, economic and artistic components. Projects include a variety of writing assignments, research-based activities, and oral presentations. Students in this course are expected to demonstrate strong reading, writing and critical thinking skills. A field trip to a major art museum is typically offered in May of each year. Students are required to take a final examination and the NYS Global Regents examination in Global History and Geography.
