As part of the 11th grade American Studies honors program, students recently participated in the New York State level of competition held at the local Desmond last Saturday, March 7th. Since last October, students have been working together to prepare for a congressional hearing in which students present a prepared speech and answer follow-up questions before a panel of judges. Students demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of constitutional principles and have opportunities to evaluate and defend positions on relevant historical and contemporary issues. Congratulations to those who participated, and in doing so, gained a wealth of content knowledge and life experience.
