Investigation of Topics from Pre
Calculus
1 Year 1 Unit
One of the main purposes for this course is to help
prepare students for a course in calculus. The curriculum
will strengthen a student’s skills introduced
in the Math B curriculum and extend them into the
traditional Pre Calculus domain. The mathematical
investigations will take a graphing calculator
approach with emphasis on mathematical applications.
Topics to be investigated will include: graphing
techniques (using the concepts of symmetry, extent
of the curve, and asymptotes), vectors with plane and
solid applications, rotation and translation of axis,
polar coordinates, parametric equations, arithmetic
and geometric sequences and series, the theory of
limits and derivatives
Requirement: Must have passed Math B and the
Math B Regents.
