Math A/B Honors
GUIDELINES:
1. Be respectful.

EXPECTATIONS AND GOALS:
I expect you will always work
to your full potential. I also expect you to remain positive, enthusiastic
and open to learning.
ATTENDANCE:
Attendance in class is vital
as is completion of ALL homework assignments. Each unit requires and
understanding of the math building block ideas discussed each
day in class. Daily studying is
essential.
MISS A DAY?
Check the assignment sheet,
web page or ask a friend. Your missed work will be placed in a folder
with your name listed at the top. There is NO excuse
for a missed assignment. A missed assignment
is due TWO DAYS after your absence.
EXTRA HELP IS AVAILABLE:
Mrs. Werner is available
periods
in the South Work Room. Don't be afraid
to ask for help. The only silly question is the one
left unasked!
MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED:
1. Two 2 inch three ring
binders. One binder will be for notes from September through January.
The other binder will be for
notes for the remainder of the year.
2. Two folders with pockets. One will be to hold
your homework and assignment sheet for the week. The other
will be for your journal.
3. Scientific Calculator. It must have the sine,
cosine, and tangent function keys. This is a must. It is required
for your Regents Exam. I
reserve the right to take points away from you if you do not have this item.
I will
be using a TI-84+ Silver
Edition Graphing Calculator to teach class. It is not required but you may
also use
this type of calculator on your
Regents Exam.
4. Notebook or loose leaf paper.
5. Graph Paper. I reserve the right to take away
points from you if you do not have this item.
6. Pens or Pencils.
7. Compass/Ruler/Protractor.
EXTRA INFO FOR YOU:
Math Journal:
Reading and writing are vital to a sound mathematical education. We will
be reading interesting
math blurbs or articles and writing our thoughts towards
them. The Journal will be interactive and I will be
responding to your entries.

COURSE OUTLINE:
We begin the year completing
the third semester of Math A. We will be preparing to take our New York
State
Regents Examination in January. Then we will continue
our mathematical studies preparing for the first semester
of Math B. Topics include the following:
