Writings

Some times I like to write when I have some time. I like to write love poems and sometimes short stories. I would like to one day make a children's picture book.

This is a short story that I have to write for my 9th grade English class. The assignment was to write a children's story with a moral.

TINY AND THE GIRAFFE

By

Erica Smith

There once as a bird that was very afraid to fly out his nest. The bird named Tiny wasn’t very tiny at all. In fact he was very portly. Well one day Tiny met a giraffe. Tiny did not know that there was any other life out there because it was so high up.

Tiny peered up out of the nest and said, “Hello? Is any one there?” Tiny wait a few moments and asked again, “Is anybody there?” There was know answer so Tiny sat and waited but not for long because there was a tongue that had almost hit the nest that was so high up. Tiny jumped up startled at the sight of this thing that had almost hit the nest. Once again Tiny said, “Hello is anybody there?” This time there was an answer

“Yes there is somebody here,” said the giraffe. The giraffe poked his head though the leaves to where the sound had came from. “Who are you?” said the giraffe.

“I’m Tiny. I have been stuck in this nest for 300 years.”

“May I ask why?” Tiny told him that ever since he was a young bird he had been afraid to fly. The giraffe told that he should try it because he might actually be good at it.

“Ok I’ll try it.” Tiny stood at the edge of his nest looked down gulped, spread his wings and jumped. “I’m flying. I’m flying,” Tiny Yelled! Tiny had forgotten to flap his wings and crashed into the ground. “I think I’ll stick to walking from now on.”

MORAL: You can’t nock it until you try it.

This is a poem that I wrote in my free time for someone very special to me.
