Ceramics is a three dimensional class that focuses on the techniques and properties of clay.  We begin with handbuilding using the pinch, coil, and slab methods.  Students will enrich their work with references from periods in art history, various cultures, and styles of art.  We will learn about the science of firing the ware and glazing the work.  By the end of the year long course, students will have the opportunity to use the potter's wheel as an advanced method of forming pottery.  Everyone is expected to take care of the studio space; cleaning, safety, and consideration for others is also very important in order to maintain a productive and positive environment.
