Edible Cell
Project

As a way to summarize the chapter on a cell, you will put your knowledge of biology as well as your creative baking skills to the test by creating an edible cell. You are to use food products to represent the different organelles and cell structures. A key, which tells what each food represents must be handed in with your cell. Be prepared to present the project to the class and explain what each food represents.
Tips:
Making a cell in a clear container would be best, so the organelles are more easily seen. However, you may choose to make your cell in a flat or pizza like form.
The container should also represent part of the cell.
You must specify on your key if the cell is a plant or animal cell. certain organelles need to be present depending on which type of cell you made.
try to use foods that mix well together when eaten because we will eat the cells once everyone has presented.
Mandatory cell parts:
cytoplasm, endoplasmic reticulum, ribosomes, nucleus, nucleoli, vacuole, cell membrane and mitochondria
Other organelles:
Chloroplasts, cell wall and centrioles
