Textbook: Prentice Hall Earth Science
Grading System: Point System
* homework...........5 points
* labs.....................10 points
* tests.....................70-90 points
- Students will receive a new grade sheet each
quarter to help them, and their parents, keep track of their science grade.
-To obtain student's grade, divide the total
points achieve by the total points available and multiply by 100.
-Regular homework will be accepted for full
credit until it is gone over in class. Review sheets or end of the year
review homework will be
discussed at a later time.
STUDENTS MUST HAVE 30 HOURS OF LABS WITH A PASSING GRADE OF 7/10 OR BETTER IN ORDER TO TAKE THE REGENTS.
Conduct: Unacceptable behaviors such as excessive talking, rudeness, use of profanity, disrespect toward Mrs. Scavo or another student, will result in a verbal reprimand. If the behavior persists, a note will be sent home to the parents/ guardians to be signed and returned. If not, a call home will result. If the behavior continues, a referral will result.
Effort Points: Each student will be given 5 effort points at the beginning of each quarter. Loss of these points occur due to coming to class without your notebook, textbook, or homework sheet. Your textbook and notebook must come to class everyday unless you are told otherwise. Any effort points not used at the end of the quarter, will be added to your total points. If a student continues to come to class unprepared, a note will be sent home.
Notebooks: A three ring notebook, loose leaf paper, one divider, and a pen or pencil is required everyday. A notebook test will be given at the end of each quarter worth 50 points. Each page of handouts, that are graded, will be numbered and on the grade sheet. Notebook organization will occur several time a quarter.
Extra Credit: To be explained later in the quarter.
Absence: When your are absent, there are four tasks to
completer upon your return:
1. Check the Website or Daily Log Sheets.
2. Check the Scavo Box for any handouts you might have
missed.
3. Check with a classmate to get notes or correct answers to
work that was returned.
4. If all else fails, check with Mrs. Scavo.
Tardiness: Will result in a loss of an effort point. If a student is late to class 3 times in one quarter, a note will be sent home. If tardiness persists, a referral will result.
Class Cutting: According to school policy. Also, any class points for that day, either a homework, lab, test, etc, will be a zero.
