* Lab reports follow the standard format below
* Students need to update their table of contents as labs are done

Purpose
* brief explanation of objectives of lab
* this is usually typed on the front of the lab handout  

Hypothesis:

prediction about the possible outcome of the lab experiment

Materials:
* list of materials needed to perform lab activity  
* when using a standard list of supplies “see attached sheet” is acceptable
*when designing own experiment, students need to develop their own list of materials

Procedure:
* list of steps taken during lab experiment or activity
* when using standard directions “see attached sheet” is acceptable
* when designing own experiment, students need to develop their own procedure

Data:
* Information collected during lab investigation
* May include data tables,  graphs, and drawings  

How to Construct Line Graphs

Discussion:  
* usually consists of a series of questions about lab activity
* complete sentences should be used when answering questions

Conclusion:
*
restate hypothesis, explain if it was supported or rejected

Staple handout and any additional tables/sheets to end of lab report
