 Labs are an integral part
of Regents Biology. We have lab
twice per week and do 1-2 labs per week (depending on length). Lab is 20% of a student’s quarter average.
Lab
Reports:
A lab
report will be written for each lab investigation done this
year. These will be organized in a lab folder. Some
reports will be more involved than others depending on the activity/
investigation. Each student will have a file folder in which to store
his/her labs.
Regents
Lab Requirement:
New York State requires
that students complete a lab requirement in order to take any science regents
exam including “The Living
Environment.” The
lab requirement consists of two parts:
- 1)
A
minimum of 1,200 minutes of completed lab experiments
- 2)
Satisfactory
lab reports for the 1,200 minutes of lab time
on file with the teacher
Living
Environment Regents Exam Lab Evaluation:
“The Living
Environment” Exam includes a section based on required labs – Part D. Part D will test student knowledge of the lab skills in the
core curriculum guide and four required labs written by New York State Board of
Regents. The labs that will be
tested in 03-04 were:
“Diffusion
through a Membrane”
“Making
Connections”
“Relationships and Biodiversity”
“The Beaks of Finches”
