 1.   DDT, an effective I N S E C T I C I D E  ( I N S E C T    K I L L E R),
       originally killed most insect pests for which it was used. 

 

      Only a few  I N S E C T S  survived the initial DDT  sprayings because
      they were already   I M M U N E   to this chemical. 

 

      Those few survivors produced  O F F S P R I N G  which were also 
       I M M U N E   to this chemical DDT spray.  And the children of the
       children also produced children with this same immunity.

 

      Before DDT was finally  banned, large numbers of  insects were immune
      (R E S I S T A N T)  to its effect.
