A United Nations Web Quest
Throughout history, global problems have posed major challenges for nations and regions. These global problems include environmental pollution, overpopulation, refugees, spread of disease, international drug trafficking, and ethnic conflicts. Governments and organizations such as the United Nations recognize these global challenges and are currently working together to eliminate these problems.
The United Nations, in conjunction with the governments of its member nations have pledged to work together to eradicate these global challenges by achieving what is referred to as the Millennium Development Goals. There are nine goals in all and include ideas such as countries working together to eradicate world poverty, combat the spread of disease, and ensure environmental sustainability. In order for the United Nations and governments throughout the world to successfully attain these goals, it is necessary for organizations such as the UN to gather data and information from countries around the world who are facing these global challenges to help ensure that the Millennium goals are achieved worldwide
