Dear Cult/Lit Students:
You are being invited to take part in a 10-day tour of Italy in the
Spring of 2008, under the auspices of Travel Destinations, Inc., a
well-known provider of
educational trips. I am looking to select a special group of students whom I
believe to
possess the following desirable characteristics: maturity, reliability,
enthusiasm for
learning, high academic achievement, good attendance, promptness,
self-discipline,
willingness to work with others, as well as acknowledgment and tolerance of
differing
views and perspectives. Young people of this description are a pleasure to
travel with,
and stand to gain a great deal from such a trip.
I have conducted the original World Cult/Lit student trips since 1984 and
these
tours have provided exciting and rewarding opportunities for teachers and
students alike.
Furthermore, my personal travel experience dates back to 1971, when I began
a period of
time in which I traveled, lived and worked in Europe. My Cult/Lit tour is an
invitation for
exceptional students to explore different cultures and historic places and
create
memorable experiences that will last a lifetime.
The 2008 trip will take the group on a breathtaking tour of Italy,
from headline cities to ancient villages and world famous landmarks.
Overnight stays will
be in several of the best-known and beautiful locations in Bella Italia, with
excursions to other places of interest along our route of travel. The cost
of approximately
$2,800 will cover all transportation, including return coach travel from
High School East
to the airport, round-trip airfare, tips, taxes and gratuities, a private
motorcoach with our
own guides, hotel accommodations, all breakfasts and dinners daily,
admissions to
museums and additional attractions each day. NO MONEY IS COLLECTED BEFORE
THE INFORMATIONAL MEETING IN OCTOBER!
Please keep in mind that the School District does not guarantee the
implementation of this trip
nor is it responsible for any financial losses due to its cancellation.
The spring of 2008 may seem far away now, but it is not too soon to begin
planning for such an important event. You are invited to attend an
informational meeting
with your parents, to be held in October, to find out more about this
exciting
educational opportunity. When preliminary approval is granted I will
announce a specific
meeting date and time—usually, our first meeting is in the third week of October. I'll
keep you
informed with more details right after the Summer vacation.
