WORLD WAR I GAME

Sources, game and writing

Due Thursday, Dec. 23

 

 

  1. Create a WWI board game.  We will play the games in class on Thursday,      Dec. 23
  2. Research:
    1. Pick a topic.  You can cover the entire war or focus on one part, for example, trench warfare, the western or eastern front, the war at sea, war in the Middle East, the home front, propaganda, a particular battle or technology ( tanks, u-boats)
    2. Find three sources.  You can use the web.  One suggested site is http://www.teacheroz.com/wwi.htm
    3. You can also go to the library homepage. Click on online data bases.  One suggested database is Encyclopedia Britannica.  There are short articles and also suggested links to web sites.
    4. Read your three sources and underline or highlight important points.  Turn in your marked up sources
  3. Design and make your game. Game requirements:
    1. Title of game
    2. No more than 3  players
    3. Be able to play a complete game in about one half hour.
    4. Easily understood instructions on how to play the game, including your goal (what do you have to accomplish to win).
    5. You need to consider how the game will progress.
    6. Board and pieces
    7. Your game should have some historical accuracy and somehow illustrate your understanding of the topic.
  4. Write a half page word processed description of the history behind your game and how your game shows it.
  5. Summary.  On Thursday, Dec. 23 you will turn in:
    1. Three marked up sources
    2. Game
    3. Half page word processed explanation
