I am extremely concerned about Shen’s lock down drills. A lock down drill should always be taken SERIOUSLY whether planned or not. A teacher should never leave their class to see if it is “real”. Students were left unattended and doors were left open as these educators went to find out information. I am certain this is not proper protocol. Shame on them for placing themselves and every student in those classes in jeopardy. Please make sure teachers (full time and substitutes) know exactly what to do when this occurs. Safety should always be a priority and never should be compromised. refresher courses are needed.

A. All drills should be taken seriously.  It is proper protocol to lock your door  and stay with the students. If you observed a teacher leaving a classroom you should report it to the administration
