In February, 24 students from all three middle schools participated in the Capital Region Mathcounts Competition at the GE Global Research Center in Niskayuna.    The Mathcounts teams are coached by Gowana math teacher Jennifer Sprague and high school students Seonwoo Kim, Ellie Yang and Yichang Huang.  The Acadia team of Jaeho Lee, Andrew Tao, Forrest Gao and Emily Yin finished 2nd  out of 15 regional teams and will continue on to the state competition at RPI in March.  Individually, Forrest Gao finished 3rd overall and came in 1st place in the Countdown Round, Andrew Tao placed 6th, Jaeho Lee 7th, Aryadeepta De of Acadia finished 9th, Ashlie Zhang of Gowana Middle School finished 10th overall and Anthony Yang of Koda finished 12th.  Arya De and Ashlie Zhang will also represent Shen at States as individuals.  Congratulations to all of the students who competed.  They did an amazing job!
