Is my son required to take the New York State Test?

A. Yes, unless you send a “Refusal to Take the Test.” letter to your child’s principal. This applies only to the Gr. 3-8 tests. NYS Regents are required to graduate.

Because students must, by law, take Regents exams to graduate, we recommend that they take the Gr. 3-8 tests to get used to taking standardized exams. These tests also help the district better meet the educational needs of your child.
