Process
Let's get flapping!
Here are the steps you and your partner should follow in order to create a page
in Mrs. Hoot's new book:
1. Your teacher (the editor-in-chief) will work out a process for assigning partners and the owls to research.
2. Go to the resources page to begin research on the owl. Go to all of the websites that are provided for your owl.
3. Print out and use the note-taking/plan sheet to write the important information that you will need for your page. Remember to use your own words as much as possible. Write your notes in words and phrases. Complete sentences are not necessary.
4. Use your
notes to help you write two paragraphs for Mrs. Hoot's book. Remember to
write as if you were the owl. Use words such as "I" and "my" throughout
your page.
First paragraph:
Describe what you (the owl) look like and where you live.
Second paragraph: Tell what you think is special
or different about you.
***Mrs. Hoot wants only interesting owl facts in her book! Start your page with an exciting introductory sentence and end with a creative concluding sentence.***
5. When your rough draft is complete, conference with your partner by printing out and using the conference checklist.
6. Bring your rough draft to the editor-in-chief (your teacher) for a final conference.
7. Type a final copy- REMEMBER TO SAVE OFTEN!
8. Use the internet to find a picture of the owl and insert it on your page.
9. Print out one copy of your owl page for Mrs. Hoot's book. Give it to the editor-in-chief to be published!
