Mrs. Naftzger's End of the Year Project

We often feel proud of the things people are able to do today.  Our inventions and discoveries have given us a wonderful life.  When we look back in history, we find people living 6,000 years ago had some good ideas, too.  Their inventions and discoveries have contributed to our lives, today.

You are a scientist preparing for a history conference. You are asked to bring a portfolio including at least one contribution made by each of the civilizations we have studied this past year.  Select one legacy from each of the seven civilizations and how that legacy helped that Civilization.  How have we improved that legacy and how do we use it today?  How is it the same?  How is it different?

Be prepared to present your portfolio to your fellow scientists. (classmates)

If you choose to make a Power Point Presentation, you also must submit a hard copy in your portfolio for me and your fellow scientists to review.

A grading Rubric will be included in your portfolio.

A list of Primary and Secondary Sources is to be attached to the last section of your portfolio.  You must cite a least four resources.

Your Project is due on Wednesday, June 15th  (No Exceptions)

The Process:                                        Title: Ancient Civilization Legacies  VS. Modern Day Use and Improvements

Step :1 Research legacies from each civilization we have studied..

Step: 2 Brainstorm with your fellow researchers and make a list for each civilization.

Step: 3 Choose one contribution from each civilization.  Using primary and secondary resources, (some provided by me) describe each legacy used thousands of years ago.

Step: 4 Compare it to how we have improved, modified or continue to use that legacy in modern times.

Step: 5 Your findings will be written on a separate page for each civilization with visuals showing both ancient and modern times.

Step: 6 Be prepared to present your portfolio orall to your fellow scientists.
