Message from Dr. Robinson about support for Houston schools and communities of Texas devastated by Hurricane Harvey…

The greatest gift we can give is charity…the sharing of our time and treasures. As you are keenly aware, the Houston area has been devastated by Hurricane Harvey. The schools are flooded and resources in communities are dwindling gravely as we speak.

I encourage you provide support and assistance in any way that you can. There is no one way to do so. It could be as straightforward as starting a donation drive of school supplies, clothing, household goods and personal care items to donate to local communities in Texas.

The Shen PTA Council (every member in every unit) is going to be collecting for the Houston Independent School District (HISD).  They are in need of new clothing, underwear, shoes, school supplies, basic hygiene items. All donations need to be collected by Wednesday, Sept. 6. Donations can be brought to the school or you can contact your PTA President or Jen Collazo at jcollazo@nycap.rr.com.

The Houston Independent School District has shared information on how to help families affected by the flooding: http://www.houstonisd.org/Page/164281

In addition, the Washington Post has provided multiple ways you could contribute to recovery efforts underway now: http://wapo.st/2gmU3Ps.

Thanks for your consideration and action. I looking forward to hearing about the wonderful ways the Shen Community is making a positive difference in this time of need.
