Study Tips

HOW TO STUDY VOCABULARY WORDS

HOW TO STUDY SPELLING WORDS

1

Reread all of the vocabulary words and definitions.

1

Read the LIST WORDS (silently and/or aloud)

2

Don't try to memorize all 10 vocabulary words and definitions in one night! Instead, learn only 2 or 3 words every night.

2

Write the LIST WORDS (2x each, on index cards, on a dry erase board, etc.) find which method works best for you!

3

You may find it to be very helpful if you rewrite the words and definitions on index cards. (HINT: Write the vocabulary word on one side and the definition on the other side.) = Vocabulary Flash Cards

3

Study only 4 or 5 words each night.

Don't try to learn all of the list worlds in one night!

4

After you memorize all of the vocabulary words and definitions, try to rewrite them on a separate sheet of paper. Whichever word(s) you stumble on, are the word(s) you still need practice on memorizing.

4

Take a spelling pre-test. Have a mom, dad, brother, sister, friend, neighbor, etc., quiz you before the test. This will help you to see how prepared you are for the test.

5

Study with a partner (mom, dad, brother, sister, neighbor, tutor, friend, etc.) Have your partner quiz you!

5

Remember if you need extra help with spelling, I am glad to help!
