How are Mediations Requested and Scheduled?

How are students notified?

  • Mediation request forms will be available
in the faculty room and the counseling
    office.

  • Completed forms will be submitted to
    the counseling office secretary,
    Mrs. Bellard.

The peer mediation coordinator
(Mrs. Reif) schedules the mediation by considering the following variables:

  • Mediator availability

  • Disputant availability

  • Room availability

Order of scheduling priorities:

1) "free periods"
2) after school
3) out of class

  • Mediators and disputants receive a pass, most likely in homeroom, to attend the mediation.

  • Teachers/monitors are shown a student pass whenever students are exiting a study hall, lunch, or the classroom.

  • A copy of the agreement (contract) is distributed to the main office, counseling office, the team teachers of the disputants and any other staff member directly related to the mediation outcome.
