In-Class Laboratories:

The Black Box:  How do we see things without seeing them?

  • Question: Is it possible to draw a picture using only numbers?
  • Materials:  Box, 2 Probes, Cardboard, Computer Spreadsheet, Computer

A Chalky Experience: When does water have the time to make a cave?

  • Question:  What variables effect the rate chemical weathering occurs?
  • Materials:  Chalk, 2 Small Beakers, Meter Ruler, Vinegar, Hot Plate, Graduated Cylinder, Thermometer

Soil Characteristics:  Investigate the physical and chemical characteristics of the Gowana garden.

  • Question: How can you visualize the  most important characteristics of soil and its formation?
  • Materials:  4 Sandwich bags, Soil Samples, Poster paper, glue, Forest litter, Lens, rock, , 2 x 2 Liter bottle
