In-class Laboratories:

Mining a Mountain - Take an unknown sample sort out this mixed up situation.

  • Question: Is it possible to separate a mixture back into its original parts?
  • Materials: Core Sample, Scales, Pick, Filters, Crusher, Magnet, Water, Screen

Will the boat float? - Using your understanding of density, will the boats you make float?

  • Question: How do changes in mass and volume of your boat, change its density?
  • Materials: Density cubes, Aluminum Foil, Measuring tools, Graduated Cylinder, Electronic Scale, Fish Tank
