Homework Policy:
Throughout English this
year, students will be responsible for completing nightly and weekly homework
assignments.
Homework is worth either 5 or 10 points.
Each assignment will have a due date, and that is the day the activity is to be completed for and in class. If the assignment is complete, the students will earn full credit, but if a student is unprepared or doesn't have the assignment, a zero will be given along with a signature in the student's agenda from the teacher. Partial credit can be received for homework assignments that are done, but not to completion.
A student usually has the opportunity to make up a missed assignment for half credit.. There will always be occasions where an activity is discussed and corrected on the spot in class, and the student will not be able to earn credit back. Students are still expected to complete the assignment for later personal use and studying.
Once a student misses three assignments, they earn a lunch detention and will spend that period making up their work.
Homework
is figured into the students overall grade for the quarter and holds
significance towards their average.
Grading
Policy:
Throughout English this year a variety of assignments,
projects, activities, and even tests & quizzes will be completed.
Each assignment / activity is based on a specific point value (which IS NOT always out of 100).
Every assignment has a set of directions / a check list for the students to follow while working through that activity.
Due dates and
testing dates are always given to the students ahead of time.
We try our best to assign those dates at least 8-10 days prior, and will
always take class time to have the students record them in their agenda.
All major projects are graded using a rubric, which shows a break down of where points could be earned and where the students actually did earn and/or lose any of those points.
At the end of the quarter, all points earned (including homework points) are added together and divided by the possible number of points available for the quarter to get the student's average.
**Every assignment, project, activity, and test / quiz goes home for a parents signature, so the students should be aware of their current standing at any point throughout the quarter.
