After you have been assigned an explorer, you will research several aspects of that explorer’s life. You may use your textbook, any materials available in our libraries, and the links listed below to complete this research. The information you need to find about your explorer includes answers to the following questions. Your answers to these questions should be detailed and complete.

What country did your explorer come from?
What was your explorer’s life like before he traveled to the “New World?”
Why did your explorer decide to travel to the “New World?”
What accomplishments did your explorer achieve in the “New World?”
What kinds of interactions did your explorer have with Native Americans in the “New World?”
What did your explorer do when he finished his journey of exploration?

Product

Once you have found the answers to all of these questions, you must create a product that shows what you have learned. Options include, but are not limited to the following ideas. Regardless of what you choose, you need to include detailed information about all of the questions above.

An explorer’s travel brochure.
A children’s book about the life of your explorer.
A poem or song with illustrations about the life of your explorer.
A Power Point Presentation about your explorer (you will not have computer lab time if you choose this option).

The following rubric will be used to grade this assignment. It is worth a total of 40 points.
