CLASS EXPECTATIONS

BEHAVIOR:  Students are expected to come to class on time and prepared with the following  materials:  pen , pencil, science 2-inch 3-ring binder containing paper, and their  student agenda book.  Students must adhere to the lab safety rules and the Koda Code of Conduct.

ATTENDANCE: Students are responsible for all missed classes and labs. Each student will be assigned a homework buddy at the beginning of the year.

EXTRA HELP:  All students are encouraged to ask for extra help if absent or at the first sign of difficulty.  It is better to seek help as early as possible to prevent falling behind in the course.  The extra help sessions will be available during free periods or before and after school by appointment.  Free periods to be announced.

GRADING: Homework, quizzes, notebook checks, and lab reports are all part of the science grade.  A  numerical  grading system is now in place.  It is a points earned /total points system.  All students keep their own Science Grade Sheet that may be viewed by a parent at any time.  It  will contain all the grades that have been earned for that quarter.  Bonus points will be given twice a quarter if the parents signs the grade sheet; once at interim time and also at the end of the quarter.

LABS:  Lab activities are an essential part of the course as they develop skills such as measuring and teamwork.  Lab points will be deducted for unexcused lateness.  In order to maintain a safe environment the safety rules must be adhered to at all times.  If a student is absent for a lab it must be made up as soon as possible.   We will have frequent lab quizzes to check for student understanding.

SUCCESSFUL STUDENT:  The successful student comes to class every day on time, prepared, completes all the assignments, studies for the quizzes, seeks help when needed, and takes responsibility for his/her actions in class.
