Team 6-1 Policies

Classroom expectations: Students are expected to follow Shenendehowa's Be Here, Be Safe, Be Responsible and Set Goals motto.  Students must come to class prepared with their agendas and materials needed to work.  In the classroom that translates to students remaining on task, working hard on the class-work assigned, asking questions and formulating answers.

Homework expectations:  All teachers assign homework with the amount varying per night.  Math is usually assigned on a nightly basis.  Students should be studying their English vocabulary words nightly and may have additional assignments to complete.  Social studies and Science class notes should be reviewed nightly with any additional assignments being completed when given.
When a homework assignment is handed in on time the student earns full credit.  If an assignment is turned in late, the student is still expected to complete it in a timely manner and will receive partial credit.

Team 6-1 Homework Policy

Effective immediately…any time a student comes to class and is not prepared with the completed homework assignment that is due for that day, they will be asked to fill out a note that requires them to fill in the assignment due and it will be stapled into their agenda.  They will sign the note and also have a parent sign it. The note will be brought back the next day to the teacher it is due, along with the completed missing assignment.  We have had a rough year with missing homework assignments and hope that by taking these measures both parents and students will be more aware of the cumulative amount of assignments missed.  This will also be helpful for us as teachers to visualize if a student is missing several assignments across the content areas.

Thank you for your cooperation and please contact us with any questions.  We hope that these measures will help ensure homework completion, thus improve the successfulness of our students.

Sincerely,

Team 6-1

Absences: Students who are absent need to see the teachers whose classes they missed and get the work made up in a timely manner.  Assignments will not be marked late (unless the student never makes them up, or does so in an untimely manner).  We stress that when a student returns to school after an absence they immediately go to see each of the teacher's classes they missed while they were out (before homeroom even starts).  If a student is ill and may be out for a longer period of time (more than two days) please contact the guidance counselor at 881-0470 extension 52450 and they will coordinate the student's work so it may be picked up by a parent.  Please do not ask another student to be responsible for bringing home your child's materials and missed work.

Pre-Planned Extended Absences- Please see your child's agenda on page 3 for our
      district policy.
