KODA EIGHTH GRADE FIELD TRIP

Great Escape

          This year the eighth grade class of Koda will have an opportunity to participate in a field trip to The Great Escape in Lake George, New York.  Students will travel by school buses, leaving after homeroom and returning to Koda at 5:30 P.M.  The activities planned

for the day involve both learning and fun.  In the morning they will investigate “Science and Math in Motion,” utilizing several Great Escape attractions to collect data to conduct experiments and solve problems using science and math skills.

          A catered lunch will be provided in a reserved pavilion, and students will be free in the afternoon to enjoy the many rides and activities in the park.

          The Koda PTA has generously donated money to cover the admission ticket. The cost per student to cover the catered lunch and bus transportation is $18.00.   Please note:  Students with season passes to Great Escape should bring their passes.  This will help the PTA by reducing their total admission cost.  Season pass holders MUST HAVE an ID CARD already processed. 

We are hoping that all eligible students will participate in this field trip.  No student should have to forego the trip because of financial circumstances.  If the cost of the trip is a deterrent, please send a note with the permission slip.  Furthermore, it should be noted that no refunds can be given after registration for the trip is closed.  

Parents/Guardians:  Would you like to join us?  It is expected that several chaperones will be needed for this trip.  Cost for chaperones is $18.00, and you will be supervising a group of up to 10 students.  Please complete the form at the bottom of the Behavior Code sheet if interested.  We expect to have more parent volunteers than needed; therefore, chaperones will be selected by lottery and notified one week before the trip, if chosen.  Chaperone payment is due the day of the trip.

Student Behavior Code

Please read and sign:

When you are given the opportunity to participate in a field trip to a theme park, it is expected that you behave properly.

• Dress appropriately (no spaghetti strap tank tops, no bikini tops, make sure your midriff is not showing, shorts must be appropriate length).
• When waiting in line for a ride, keep your hands to yourselves and do not push or shove.  You will get your turn on the ride just like everyone else.
• Do not bring electrical equipment such as Walkmans, etc. (anything not allowed in school).
• Follow your designated chaperone’s instructions, so everyone has a good time and does not get hurt or lost.
• Remember, you are representing your school.  Make us proud so that future field trips can be made!
• You may only bring in a sealed water bottle to the park.  No other food or drink items.

When you are at the picnic pavilion, the expectations are that you behave as if you were there with your family.

• Line up to make food selections.
• Take only what you will eat.
• Wait patiently in line for your food.  You will have plenty of time to eat and visit with your friends.
• Use an indoor voice, even though you are outside.  Your friends will be able to hear you just fine.  Remember – there will be others eating there as well.
• Wait patiently when you are done.  You may visit with your friends, but stay in the food court and follow your chaperone’s instructions.
• Leave your table in order, without creating hardship for the personnel.
• Thank your chaperones!

Chaperone Interest Form

                I am interested in becoming a chaperone for the Great Escape field trip.  I understand that my name will be put in a lottery and that only if I am chosen, I will supply the cost of $18 .00 to cover my fees on the day of the trip.  I also understand that I will be supervising a group of up to 10 students during the trip.
