The 6th Grade Science program consists of Earth Science topics. The Earth is an interesting place. Think about what natural events are happening on Earth this very second. Earthquakes are occurring, volcanoes could be erupting, mountains are growing, clouds are covering the sky; there are so many. As I teach about these actions, I will focus not only on what is happening but why it is happening and what else can take place because of it. Makes sense? You'll see what I mean.
Think of Earth's existence as a "story", and the units we will do are all linked to this "story". The "story" is organized and will be "told" in this order:
1. Maps
2. Landforms
3. Archeology
4. Weathering and Erosion
5. Earthquakes
6. Volcanoes
7. Water
8. Air
9. Weather
10. Seasons
11. Space
At any time the above list is due to change. As current events occur, I feel it is necessary to modify and adjust my plans.
Each unit will be collected and saved in your expandable folder. In June, I will collect and box everyone's. I then need to pass all 100+ expandable folders on to the 8th grade teachers. These folders will be used to help you prepare and review for the 8th grade New York State Science assessment.
