Course Description
Physical Education
Grades 7 & 8
| The primary aim of the Physical Education
curriculum is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, values, and
enthusiasm to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Physical Education
is a developmentally appropriate course requiring students to
cognitively learn and actively apply knowledge in a variety of movement
based situations. Both boys and girls will learn to participate together in
numerous team and individual sports on an every other day basis for the full
school year. At the conclusion of this course students will have developed
a better understanding of there own strengths and weaknesses as they apply
to functioning as a well rounded, physically active individual. This
understanding of one’s abilities will lead to the development of a sense of
self confidence that each student will be able to utilize as progress toward
the High School level. Students at the Shenendehowa Middle School receive Physical Education on an every other day basis (either on an A or B day) for a 40 minute period. All 6th grade students are scheduled for Physical Education in the Green Gymnasium (Gowana M.S. building) and all 7th and 8th grade students are scheduled for Physical Education in the White Gymnasium (Koda M.S. building). |
