MAY 2 BOSTON TRIP INFORMATION
Dear Parents & Guardians of Koda Team 7-2 Students:
As we alerted you in October, on Friday, May 2 we will be taking a trip to the Museum of Science in Boston in order to enhance the seventh grade life science and social studies programs. Students will tour the museum’s many exhibits, experience the Butterfly Garden, and do the historic Duck Tour.
The cost of this trip is $62.00 Checks/money orders should be made payable to Koda Project Fund (NO CASH PLEASE.) This price includes charter bus transportation, entrance into the museum exhibit halls and Butterfly Garden, and tickets for the Duck Tour. No meals are included in this price. Students will also need money for a dinner stop on the way home and any souvenir shopping they may wish to do. They have the option of bringing a bag lunch or purchasing lunch in the museum food court. Buses will depart the Koda parking lot at 6:00 AM and arrive in Boston by 10:00 AM. We will leave the museum promptly at 4:00 PM and arrive back at Koda by 8:30 PM; more details will follow later.
Due to our financial obligations with the tour company, money will not be refunded to students who are absent on the day of the trip, miss the bus, or are excluded due to disciplinary infractions. In addition, the bus company reserves the right to levy an additional fuel charge up to thirty days prior to the trip. If this should happen we may need to slightly increase the last payment to cover this and ensure that the trip may go on.
We will need a number of parent chaperones. If you are interested in chaperoning a group of 4-5 students, please complete the tear-off below and attach it to your child’s permission slip. A separate check/money order in the amount of $62.00 must accompany the form and should be made payable to Koda Project Fund. Chaperones will be chosen on a first paid basis and payment will be returned to chaperones who are not needed prior to the trip. All money and permission slips will be collected by Mrs. Vadney, your child’s science teacher, beginning on Monday, January 7. Payment and permission slips are due Friday, January 18.
For your convenience, you may opt to pay the full amount now or an installment of $31.00 now with the remaining balance of $31.00 due in April. If you wish to be a chaperone, your full payment must be submitted now in order to hold your place.
PLEASE NOTE: SOME PAYMENT (HALF OR FULL) & PERMISSION SLIP MUST BE
SUBMITTED NOW IN ORDER TO SECURE YOUR CHILD’S PLACE ON THE TRIP

BEHAVIOR GUIDELINES FOR STUDENTS
*******************************************************************************************************************************
Dear Parent Chaperone:
Thank you for volunteering to accompany us on our trip to the Museum of Science in Boston on Friday, May 2. Please arrive at Koda by 5:45 AM and park across the road adjacent to the elementary fields, not in the Koda Staff parking lot. Your child will be able to tell you your group number. Mrs. Vadney is in charge of Bus A, Ms. Valente is in charge of Bus B, and Mrs. Waterstram is in charge of Bus C.
When you arrive at Koda, please report to the teacher in charge of your bus for a list of students you will supervise, a name tag, and other related materials. It is very important that you read through the contents of your envelope on the way as there are specific activities designated for different groups at different times. Students have been told to check in with you before they board the buses so please stand near your bus as students prepare for departure (please wear your name tag.) Let the teacher in charge of your bus know by 5:50 AM if there are any students in your group who have not arrived.
Upon arrival at the museum all students will be held on the buses until one of the teachers goes in to confirm the head count and pick up the tickets; then the entire group will enter the museum and begin to tour the exhibit halls. Students who bring bag lunches will be able to store them upon arrival in an area designated by museum staff, to be picked up before lunch. Students who bring a bag lunch may use the pavilion area at the back of the museum and students who wish to will be able to purchase lunch at the museum food court. Lunch for all groups will be from 11:30 to 12:30 and there are specific times designated for your group for the Butterfly Garden and Duck Tour. A map will be provided for each chaperone. Please remember to return to the bus no later than 3:45 PM sharp for a prompt departure. We will be making a dinner stop on the way home and plan to arrive back at Koda by 8:30 PM.
Students are expected to respect the wishes of all chaperones, bus drivers, and museum/Duck Tour staff, and to behave appropriately at all times. If a problem should arise, do not hesitate to seek assistance from any staff member. Encourage the students in your group to let you know if anything occurs that concerns them and at all times keep your group together. We will provide you with more specific information on the morning of the trip.
If you have any questions before the day of the trip please feel free to call us at 881-0470. We thank you again for your interest in our program and your willingness to assist us and we look forward to an enjoyable day with the students.
Sincerely, Team 7-2 Teachers
