GRADING POLICY

Your quarter report card grade is computed by dividing the number of points you earned in the quarter by the total possible number of points available in that quarter. Your goal is to earn as many points as possible and to have NO zeroes resulting from work not turned in. It is your responsibility to keep track of your progress by recording your grades on the grade recording sheet which will be provided for you each quarter. Click here to go to the grade record page. You can compute your average at any time by following the directions on the back of your grade recording sheet. There is no extra credit; you must do what is assigned and remember, I do not give you your grades, you earn them. Bonus points can be earned at the end of each quarter for students who have completed all the assigned work during the quarter. Click here to find out more about these opportunities. My gradebook is open through the parent portal and parents can obtain passwords through the Koda Counseling Center.
EXTRA HELP

Extra help is available during study halls or before school at 8:15 if no other time can be arranged during your regular schedule. You need to make an appointment and get a pre-signed pass so I know that you are coming and can tell you where and when to meet me.
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES AFTER ABSENCE

It is YOUR responsibility to see me on the day of return from absences to receive instructions for making up missed work. You are allowed one day for every day of absence to complete the work. You should have a study buddy from the team who you can call to find out important information about your classes. If you are out two days or more, your parents may request work to be sent home through the Counseling Office. When you are given the work you missed, follow the directions in red written on the top of each page. Make sure if it says "turn in for credit" that you turn it in. Only the pages which say "copy from a friend" should be copied (these are usually classnotes); everything else must be done by YOU. Click here to find out about what you may have missed during a recent absence.
MISSING CLASS FOR MUSIC LESSONS OR OTHER ACTIVITIES

If you are scheduled to miss Social Studies class for a music lesson, YOU must see me the day before or the day of the lesson (during homeroom or before class) to let me know. Do not expect another student to relay this message. You are responsible for the classwork/homework assigned during that time and you need to see me to receive it and the instruction necessary to do it.
If a test is scheduled on the day you have a lesson, your first obligation is to stay and take the test. If you finish the test early you may report to your lesson then or reschedule a make-up lesson for another time.
If you are going to miss Social Studies class due to a field trip, assembly, or other activity for another class, you must see me the day before to let me know and to receive the work that you will miss while you are gone.
