Come to class on time and prepared every day. Being prepared means bringing your Social Studies notebook and your Supply Binder which contains your Agenda, homework folder, lined paper, pens, and pencils. Click here for a complete list of needed supplies for your classes.
Check the assignment board and write your assignment in your Agenda as soon as you sit down. Check the "Assignments" link on this website if you have forgotten to record your assignment. Click here to go to that page now.
Check the team website calendar to get the "big picture" of project due dates, quizzes, and tests in Art, English, FACS, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Click here to go to that page now.
Keep your Social Studies notebook organized and in date order with all the papers on the rings. Clean out your homework folder daily and use it only for "Homework To Do" and "Homework Done." All other papers should go into subject notebooks. Do not remove anything from your Social Studies notebook until Ms. Valente tells you to do so (at the end of each quarter.) Don't throw anything away. Store old units in a safe place at home to be used for review for the 8th grade state exam. (About half of the multiple choice questions and constructed responses on the exam come from seventh grade material.)
Have the phone number of a "study buddy" who you can call if you have been absent or don't understand something which was discussed in class. This can be anyone on your team who has Ms. Valente for Social Studies.
Have a place at home which is free of distractions and try to do your homework around the same time each day. On nights when no written homework is assigned, spend a few minutes reviewing classwork and organizing your notebook.
Do ALL homework and turn it in on time; Failing to do homework is the surest way to fail. There is NO EXTRA CREDIT. Click here to read more about homework requirements.
Use the links to web resources here to help you with your assignments if you need more information or explanation about a particular topic.
Put your best effort into all your assignments; make them look like finished products. All written work to be handed in must be done in dark blue or black ink only. Work done on the computer must be double-spaced, typed in Times New Roman 12pt. font, and printed in black ink. Student work WILL NOT be accepted on disks or CDs. If you can't print it yourself, then do it the old fashioned way and write it out.
Don't wait until the last minute to prepare for tests and quizzes; all are announced well in advance and you should start studying early. Click here for tips on how to study.
Always ask questions if you don't understand something. Listen. Listen. Listen.
