Preparedness
Students must have the following items when they enter Mrs.
Fear’s English class each day. Failure to bring any of these items to class
will result in daily deduction of participation points.
- Pen/pencil
- English binder with loose-leaf paper
- Writer's journal--either black/white speckled journal or any notebook
dedicated solely to writing
- Whatever book we are reading at the time
Homework
All homework is due at the beginning of the period students are enrolled
in English class. If students do not hand in homework at this time, they will
receive a 0%.
At the beginning of the year, students will receive one homework pass that
will enable students to hand in an assignment one day late with the potential
to earn full credit. Students will be able to earn more passes throughout the
year by being positive contributors and good citizens.
If students do not hand in assignments during class and don’t have any
more homework passes, they can still earn full credit if they come to the
After School Assistance Program (ASAP) that day. If students do not attend
ASAP the day the assignments are due, the assignments can still be made up
during any ASAP session for the potential to earn ½ credit. Assignments
greater than 5 weeks old will not be eligible for credit.
At the end of each quarter, students who did not use their homework passes
and who have completed all of the assignments can either turn in their
unused passes for bonus points or keep the passes for future assignments
throughout the year.
Major projects and Essays
All projects and essays are due at the beginning of the period students
are enrolled in English class. If students do not hand in projects and essays
at this time, they will receive a 0%.
Students may not use homework passes on projects or essays. If students do
not hand in the projects or essays during class, the projects or
essays will be accepted late with a point value deduction per day. Point penalty
will vary depending on assignment.
Make-up work
If students miss a day of school, they are required to submit homework
that was due the day they were absent the day they return.
Assignments for the day students missed will be in the class period folder
by the door. It is the responsibility of the students to make up the work.
Specific due dates will depend on circumstances.
If students are legally absent from school and miss a quiz or test, they
will have 5 school days to make it up. Failure to do so in this
timeframe will result in a 0%. Timeframe may vary for extreme circumstances.
