The Profile of a Middle School Student

Middle school is a time of great excitement and some anxiety. There will be many changes over the three years in the way you look, think and act. Your growth will be dramatic socially, emotionally and physically. There will be many challenges and hopefully many accomplishments. Middle schools are designed to support you through these years of growth and help you to learn how to become self-aware, so that you can successfully navigate through the many challenges you will face.

Throughout the year there will be opportunities to learn more about each of the eight critical attributes and the process of collection of evidence of each attribute.

Invitation for Involvement

The Middle School Vision Committee has a sub-committee that is continuously looking for ways to improve the Profile of a Middle School Graduate program. We are looking for dedicated and energetic students to be a part of this committee. If you are interested in being a member of our team or need more information, talk to your school guidance counselor.

  • When will I use the Profile of a Middle School Student? You will use the profile every day in and out of school as a guide for making decisions and to collect evidence through the activities you are engaged in.

 

  • Why should I participate if I don’t get a grade? True, there are no grades associated with the Profile, which we hope you will see as a positive. Besides the long term benefits like better preparation for college or the work world, you will have an opportunity to receive recognition for activities you participate in outside of school or that are non-academic. Your peers, parents, teachers and even you will get to know more about yourself as a person. This is what the "whole child" is all about!
