Everything you need to know about Mrs. Borgman's
And more! |

Attendance
If your child is ill, you will need to notify Okte. You can do this in one of two ways: You can call the attendance office at 881-0540, or when your child returns to school, you may send a signed written excuse for their absence. Make-up work will be sent home with your child upon his or her return to school. In cases where the absence will be several days (chicken pox, etc.), let me know and I will make arrangements for work to be sent home with a sibling or picked up in the office. |

A backpack needs to come to school with your child every single day. Inside his/her backpack should be a ‘take-home’ folder and black and white "Memory Book". Please be sure to check your child’s folder for homework, reminders, and school papers every night. |

Birthdays
We will celebrate your child’s birthday in school. You child may bring a nut-free, healthy treat to share with classmates. Please do not send drinks, balloons, or noisemakers. If your child’s birthday is in the summer, we will celebrate their birthday in June (in accordance with their birthday announcement at Morning Program). If your child's birthday is on a Saturday, we will celebrate on Friday. If your child's birthday is on Sunday, we will celebrate on Monday. Please, no cupcakes. |

Book Orders
Each month, I will send home book club
order forms. These offers are a great
way to build your home library and help us get materials for our classroom as
well. For each purchase you make, I
receive points toward books and other supplies for our classroom. You will receive specific information on
how to place an order on each flyer.
If you would ever like to order books as a birthday or Christmas gift,
just let me know, and I’ll get the books to you without your child knowing. |

Clothing
Your child should come to school dressed for the weather. During the winter months, please be sure that your child has a warm coat, mittens/gloves, and a hat. We will continue to go outside for recess as long as possible. When the weather turns too cold to go outside, I will notify parents of those special outdoor days. On these days, I will ask your child to bring his or her snow pants and boots. During the warmer months of school, your child may wear sandals. However, Okte’s policy is that no child can climb outdoor playground equipment if the sandal is not secure to the foot and without a raised heel. This means that all sandals need a strap around the heel to secure the foot to the shoe. (no flip flops) The best policy is for your child to wear sneakers to school whenever possible. |

Contact Information
My email address is borgchri@shenet.org. I check my email daily and make every attempt to send a reply within a day. To reach me at school, call 881-0540, and when prompted, enter extension 47009. Note: During the hours that school is in session (8:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.) you will be transferred to my voicemail where you will need to leave a message. I will return your call as soon as I am able. Please do not hesitate to contact me for anything. Also, if you have something to tell me that does not require a phone conversation, I urge you to use your child's Memory Book to write me a note. I sign each child's Memory Book every morning. |

Library
Wednesday is our library day! Books may be returned to school any time after the book(s) has/have been read. In order for a new book to be checked out, the previous book(s) must be returned. It’s a great idea to keep your child’s library book in a safe place all the time so you don’t have to worry about lost or damaged books. |

Pick-Up
Unless I have a written note from you, your child will be sent home on his or her regular bus. It is school policy that a note must be sent to school if a child will be picked up from school. In the case of a last minute emergency, you can call the office and make arrangements for your child to be picked up. Without a note or phone call, your child will go home on the bus.
