Senior outfielder/second baseman Joe Palko has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association Rawlings Region 1 Division 1 High School All-Region Team for the 2017 season. Region 1 includes Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island and New York.

Palko was a two year starter for the Plainsmen and led the program back to the Section 2 Finals for the sixth consecutive year. During that span the Plainsmen won 37 games while he accumulated a two year career batting average of .417, scored 41 runs and was 17 for 17 in stolen bases. This past season he led the team in batting with a .425 average. He only had 2 errors playing four defensive positions during the 2016 & 2017 seasons. Joe Palko may be most famous for hitting the most important RBI in Shen school baseball history when he knocked in the winning run in the Plainsmen dramatic 2 out, three run rally in the bottom of the 7th delivering Shenendehowa their first Class ‘AA’ State Championship game over Webster-Schroeder in 2016.

Joe Palko is the 7th A.B.C.A. All-Region players named from the Plainsmen program in the last 5 years. He will be attending Union College and playing for Head Coach Paul Mound next season.
