Writing

Highlights of the
Second Grade Writing curriculum include:

  • Students working in a writing workshop setting, coached by the teacher to create a variety of compositions at a developmentally appropriate level

  • Students motivated to write for a variety of reasons and at times share work with an audience

  • Students increasingly making the transition from "sound spelling" to "dictionary spelling," held accountable for those words and spelling patterns which have been taught.
