Student of the Week

All second graders will participate in a very special activity throughout the year. Each child will be recognized as Student of the Week.

We ask that each second grader create a "Me Board" which is a collage of the child’s personal history. Using large poster board (approximately 22" x 28"), the child will print his/her name in big letters and then include visuals (such as: photos, magazine cut-outs, drawings, awards, etc.) which depict information which your child would like to share with our class. Full sentence captions should be included which explain the various parts of the poster.

Printing should be done with care and reflect the best work of the second grader. Working first with pencil and then tracing with dark marker works well for most children. If your child enjoys typing on a computer, that too is acceptable. Encourage your child to do his/her best, making a product that s/he will feel proud to share with classmates. Please remember that this is the child’s project... offer encouragement, but please do not do it for your son or daughter!

The poster is due on the Monday of your child’s special week. The child will present the poster to the class during the week and be able to take it home at the end of the week as a souvenir of second grade!

We hope that this project is an enjoyable one for you and your child! Looking forward to each person shining and learning more about each individual!
