What's happening in First Grade Music?

Peek into any First Grade Music Class and you will see a great deal of activity and hear a huge amount of noise! Are the kids running amok? Is the teacher having trouble maintaining order? No! The students are completely involved in learning how to keep a steady beat, exploring fast and slow tempos, matching pitches in singing, playing simple rhythm instruments, learning music from all around the globe, and simply having lots of fun.

Through singing, movement activities, and games, First Grade children are introduced to songs and dances from all over the world. First Graders have plenty of opportunity to sing, dance, play, pretend with puppets, and explore musical instruments that they may never have seen or heard before. Music lessons are enhanced through art and literature. First Grade children learn that Music is fun and exciting!
