By Second Grade, students have an impressive repertoire of folk songs, games, and movement activities under their belts. It's now time to explore music literacy; a fancy term for learning to read music. Second Graders will work with interesting items, including popsicle sticks, to write simple rhythms. Students will use body percussion and simple rhythm instruments to accompany songs. Second Graders will be introduced to simple musical forms and create their own rondos. Your Second Grader will be able to tell you all about orchestral instrument families and how sound is created. Through song, dance, and play, Second Graders experience the joy of music, and are eager to share what they've learned with their families and friends.
