All About Me

Mr. Morcone

Hello, and welcome to my class Website and Shatekon Elementary School! I want to take a moment to introduce myself.  I am Mr. Morcone, and this will be my tenth year teaching.  I have previously taught fourth grade, I have been teaching fifth grade for the past eight years.  Words cannot express how excited I am about continuing to be a small part of a wonderful community like Shatekon Elementary!

I attended Hudson Valley College for my Associates Degree and then The College of Saint Rose for my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education with an English concentration.  I also received my Master’s Degree as a Literacy Specialist there as well. I continue to work in conjunction with the N.Y.S. Education Department in assisting in the state assessment process for grades 3-8.   I am also currently completing my Building and District Leadership Certifications (Administration).  I enjoy reading, music, working out and playing all types of sports. I also played football in college for three years and have played the drums for about ten.  I am a N.Y. Giants and a huge Yankee fan.  One of my most favorite activities is to landscape!

This year, my class will be engaging in many reading comprehension strategies in all content areas.  Students will become better readers and writers while having fun!  Our fifth grade team will continue to use Professional Learning Communities to use data to drive our instruction for student learning.  This will be a year of excitement with hands-on and service projects, many different lessons and wonderful fifth grade team events.  I hope everyone is enjoying themselves.  I simply love teaching and I am very excited to start the school year.

Together we will make a difference. J
