This year Shen High School created the Science National Honor Society with leadership of high school senior Chris Penman.  He was interested in starting the honor society and gathered all the information from the national organization that would be required to do so.  Bridgette Galarneau, Michele Masten and Eric Davenport are club advisors.

In November, the Science NHS inducted the first class of members who were all seniors.  Their mission was to establish the club with a constitution and by-laws.  This spring they inducted underclassmen as an opening to Shen’s Science and Health Discovery Night.  Sophomores and Juniors who qualify based on overall and science GPAs and course enrollment will elect next year’s officers and continue the club’s mission of promoting science and education in the sciences.

Shen has the first Science National Honor Society in the Capital Region and will have inducted more than 300 students this first year.  Inductions will be held every Fall for new members who are eligible based on grades and science course enrollment.
